Synopsis

“Take 5” is a chamber music series initiated in 2007 by five prominent professional Singaporean musicians to showcase masterpieces in the quintet chamber repertoire. “Take 5” is a bold project that is unprecedented in its commitment to showcase the quintet chamber repertoire as well as to commission and present works by local composers for this genre. “Take 5” has featured three concerts so far, performing piano quintets by Brahms, Dohnányi, Dvorák and Kelly Tang. These performances have received critical acclaim.

Its debut concert on 19 September 2007, featuring a premiere of Elgar’s Piano Quintet as well as Franck’s Piano Quintet, was hailed as “outstanding” and “intense” by The Straits Times. In its Fourth concert, “Take 5” will perform quintets by Dimitri Shostakovich. and will also present its newly commissioned quintet by world acclaimed Singaporean composer, Joyce Koh. Performers will include:
