One of Asia’s foremost jazz pianists, Jeremy Monteiro will kick off this year’s Singapore
Chinese new season with his “Overture in C Major – The Story of Singapore”.
A vivacious piece arranged by Eric Watson, it is certain to jazz up the audience’s mood. Monterio will also premiere Singapore composer Kelly Tang’s new work “Montage: Three Movements for Jazz Piano & Chinese Orchestra”.
In addition, he will perform “Olympia” to the accompaniment of the other members of the Jeremy trio — bassist Christy Smith and drummer Tama Goh, both accomplished musicians in their own right. The Jeremy trio, SCO guanzi soloist Han Lei and the orchestra will also be playing “Summer Palace”, a wonderful blend of Chinese instruments and Western jazz.
Other highlights include “Seven Steps to Heaven” and “Asiana”, the latter being composed by Jeremy Monteiro.
