Expect nothing less than an enigmatic extraordinary performance when you put four of Asia’s top jazzmen on the same stage.
Known as The Asian Jazz All-Stars Power Quartet, the band comprises Singapore’s own ‘King of Swing’ jazz pianist/organ maestro Jeremy Monteiro; Eugene Pao, arguably Asia’s top jazz guitarist from Hong Kong; Tots Tolentino, saxophone extraordinaire from Philippines; and Hong Chanutr Techatana-nan, one of the most innovative and exciting drummers to emerge in the Asian jazz scene, from Thailand.
This powerful amalgamation of Asian jazz leaders is bound to create musical alchemy for their shows taking place in the intimate setting of Esplanade Recital Studio.
Eugene’s stratospheric guitar lines & power riffs; Jeremy’s synthesis of bluesy organ licks coupled with Ravel-esque harmonies; Tots’ kaleidoscopic sound shapes & melodic tapestries; plus Hong’s groovy swing juxtaposed with his innovative polyrhythmic embellishments will stimulate you intellectually and warm your hearts at the same time.
Joining them on stage with her vocal sheen is local jazz singer Rani Singam. Be mesmerised in a night of jazz by the astonishing chemistry between these charismatic musicians as they perform an eclectic selection of old and new standards well spiced with original compositions.
